Our Founder

My name is Tracy Smith Houston, and I am the founder of The Educated Babysitter. I am originally from San Francisco, Ca. I moved to Washington, D.C. in 1989 to attend Howard University. I graduated in 1995 with a BA in Elementary Education/Early Childhood. I pursued a career in teaching and have been doing so for over 28 years now. I have over 30 years of childcare experience, and I also do Educational Consultant work. I completed two Masters of Education degrees with a concentration in Leadership of Educational Organizations and Curriculum and Instruction, in the Spring of 2008 from The American Intercontinental University.  I reside in National Harbor, MD, with my furry babies Chloe and Waffles. I'm a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Eta Omicron Chapter, Waldorf, MD.

My name is Katherine Claggett, and I am the Co-Owner of The Educated Babysitter. I am from the Washington, DC Metro Area and have lived here for over 24 years. I graduated in 2021 with a BS in Behavioral and Social Sciences from North Carolina Central University. I pursued a career in education and am a full time Educational Administrative Assistant. Also I am CPR certified and am fully vaccinated plus booster.  I have over 15 years of childcare experience, and have been working with The Educated Babysitter since 2007. I'm a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Eta Omicron Chapter, Waldorf, MD.
